Our does provide the milk for making cheese and we can share the experience of the whole process with others!
About half the year when our herd permits (when we have does in milk, and babies around) we can offer this micro farm cheesemaking workshop. The workshop takes 2-3 hours and it's fun for all ages! The cost of the workshop is $400.00 and you can invite as many to join as you like.
The goats are your guests and travel to your home or workshop site (park, church, school, etc.). We will bring one doe in milk and her babies. She likes to travel with her babies and you will enjoy them too. Sometimes the babies even want you to give them a bottle. If you have a fenced area that is great, but we can also bring some fencing. We set up a milk stand and begin teaching how to milk and anyone can have a try. After a bit of milking the cheesemaking commences. *Goat Mozzarella cheese is a very mild goat cheese with a taste the same as store bought mozzarella and works great on pizza.
*Full disclosure for the legal folks. Since your kitchen is not likely a commercial kitchen and the workshop is for educational purposes we don't recommend you eat the cheese we make. It will be up to your discretion since it was your own cheese made from your own hands. Mozzarella cheese can be cooked on pizza at 400 degrees so it does cook up rather safe from bacteria.
